# Upgrades and downgrades

> When each takes effect, and what happens to the excess.

## Upgrades

Immediate. The new limits apply as soon as the change is confirmed, and
billing adjusts from the change.

## Downgrades

Take effect at the **end of the paid period** — you keep what you paid for
until then.

## The excess problem

Downgrading below your current channel count does not delete anything
automatically:

  Channels over the new limit stay connected but **publishing to them is
  blocked** until you choose which to remove. Nushir never picks which of your
  channels to disconnect — that decision is yours.
</Warning>

Queued posts to over-limit channels stay queued and resume publishing if the
channel comes back under the limit — by removing others, or by upgrading again.
