# Connect a channel

> The ways a platform connects, and what to do when one fails.

**Add Channel**, pick a platform, approve access on the platform, and you are
returned to Nushir with the channel connected.

## What you are approving

Nushir asks each platform for the narrowest set of permissions that still lets
it do the job: read your profile so the channel can be labelled, read your
published posts so a scheduled post can be confirmed, and publish on your behalf.

You can withdraw access at any time — from the channel menu here, or from the
platform's own connected-apps settings.

## Account types

Several platforms only expose publishing to certain account types. This is the
platform's restriction, not Nushir's, and it is the most common reason a
connection appears to work but cannot publish:

| Platform | Requirement |
| - | - |
| Instagram | Business or Creator account |
| Facebook | A Page — personal profiles cannot be published to |
| TikTok | Publishing needs the app approved for the Content Posting API |
| LinkedIn Page | You must be an administrator of the page |

## When it fails

The token was accepted then rejected. Almost always an account-type problem:
the account is personal where the platform requires business, or the page is

Normal. Several platforms expire tokens on a fixed cycle, and changing your
password on the platform revokes them. Reconnect from the channel menu.
