# Posting times

> Set the times a channel normally posts, and what depends on them.

Each channel carries a list of times it normally posts. They are used for two
things:

1. **Find a slot** returns the next free one.
2. The calendar suggests them when you click an empty area.

They are suggestions, not restrictions — you can always schedule a post at any
time you like.

## Setting them

Channel menu → **Preview**, then edit the times. They repeat weekly.

## Why "free" matters

A slot is free if nothing is already scheduled for that channel at that time.
Asking for the next free slot repeatedly gives you a spread-out queue rather
than five posts stacked on one morning.

The API exposes the same logic:

```bash theme={null}
curl https://platform.nushir.com/api/public/v1/find-slot/CHANNEL_ID \
  -H "Authorization: $NUSHIR_API_KEY"
```

```json theme={null}
{ "date": "2026-09-02T09:00:00Z" }
```

<Note>
  Times are stored and returned in **UTC**. A slot shown as 09:00 in a UTC+3
  account is `06:00:00Z` over the API.
