# Platform reference

> Every supported platform, what it can carry, and what it is called in the API.

Each platform has its own rules. Nushir enforces them before you schedule rather
than letting a post fail at publish time — which is why a post that is fine on
one channel is blocked on another.

## Media requirements

The rule that catches people most often. Two platforms will not accept a
text-only post at all:

| Platform | Media |
| - | - |
| Instagram | **Required** |
| TikTok | **Required** |
| Pinterest | **Required** |
| YouTube | **Required** (video) |
| Everything else | Optional |

## Multi-part posts

| Behaviour | Platforms |
| - | - |
| Native thread | X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads |
| Follow-up comments | LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit |
| Follow-up messages | Discord, Telegram, Slack |
| Not supported | Pinterest |

## Analytics coverage

| Reporting | Platforms |
| - | - |
| Account and post metrics | Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest |
| Post metrics only | Threads |
| Limited | X, Reddit |
| None | Discord, Telegram, Slack, Mastodon, Bluesky |

Platforms reporting nothing return an empty result, not an error.

## Account types

Several platforms only expose publishing to particular account types. This is
the most common reason a channel connects successfully and then cannot publish:

* **Instagram** — Business or Creator, linked to a Facebook Page
* **Facebook** — a Page you administer; personal profiles cannot be posted to
* **Pinterest** — a business account
* **LinkedIn Page** — you must be an administrator
* **Telegram / Discord / Slack** — the bot or app must be added, with rights

## API identifiers

The `identifier` on a channel decides which `settings` object a post must carry:

`x` · `linkedin` · `linkedin-page` · `facebook` · `instagram` ·
`instagram-standalone` · `threads` · `tiktok` · `youtube` · `pinterest` ·
`reddit` · `discord` · `telegram` · `slack` · `mastodon` · `bluesky`
