# Schedule your first post

> From an empty account to a scheduled post, in five steps.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the account">
    Sign up at [platform.nushir.com](https://platform.nushir.com/auth). The trial
    starts immediately.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect a channel">
    **Add Channel** in the left sidebar, then pick a platform. You are sent to
    that platform to approve access and returned here once it is granted.

    If the platform refuses, [connecting](/general/troubleshooting/oauth-connect)
    covers the errors worth recognising.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the composer">
    Click any empty slot on the calendar, or **Create post**. The time you
    clicked becomes the scheduled time — it can be changed before saving.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write the post">
    Select the channels along the top, write the body, and attach media.

    Some platforms will not accept a post without media, and some require
    settings — TikTok needs a privacy level, Reddit needs a subreddit. The
    composer will not let you schedule until those are filled in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Schedule it">
    **Add to calendar** queues it. It appears on the calendar and publishes at
    the scheduled time.

    Nothing needs to stay open — publishing happens on the server.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## After it publishes

The calendar entry turns to published and, once the platform returns one, links
to the live post. Platforms that report metrics start populating
[analytics](/general/analytics) within a day or so.

<Tip>
  Not sure when to post? Use **find a slot** rather than picking a time by hand —
  it returns the next free time that fits the channel's configured
  [posting times](/general/channels/time-slots).
